Signature Rooms
14 rooms in the 'Cabernet', 'Shiraz' and 'Merlot' wings. Spacious (50m²) with elegant, modern décor. Features plenty of natural light and a terrace with magnificent views.
Executive Rooms
6 spacious rooms (50m²) with elegant, modern décor. Each with plenty of natural light and a balcony or terrace with views to the valley and mountains.
Deluxe Rooms
10 rooms (45m²) in the ‘Cabernet’ and ‘Merlot’ wings. Comfortable, modern décor, plenty of natural light and a balcony with sweeping views.
Asara Facilities
The enjoyment of food and dining is very much part of the Asara experience. We celebrate local, artisanal suppliers whenever possible, and subscribe to an ethos of seasonal, sustainable, flavorful food. Hotel guests and visitors can choose from several different venues:
mise en place Our evenings-only destination restaurant with elegant décor, superb service and seasonal menu.
Sansibar Bistro Open from midday each day, an indoor/outdoor experience with lovely, large terraces and sweeping views.
Reception Lounge & Courtyard Lounge and outdoor seating in the courtyard at the heart of the hotel with teas, coffees and more.
Raphael’s Venue for our fabulous buffet and a la carte breakfasts.
Deli Offers various treats, including in-house ice-creams in summer.
Sansibar Gin Lounge
The Sansibar Gin lounge boasts Africa’s largest selection of imported gins, as well as the full range of gins produced by the burgeoning local gin industry. At Sansibar we not only offer gin tasting experiences – a great way to learn about gin for connoisseurs and novices alike, often one that leads to much discussion and laughter.
There is also an extensive and exclusive list of whisky’s, cognacs, cocktails and other drinks including non-alcoholic cocktails.
Sansibar offers magnificent views from the terrace in summer, and a roaring fireplace in winter.

Pool Bar
Open in summer months only, our pool bar offers a range of drinks and light bites for Asara hotel residents only.
Deli
Our Deli is situated just off the central courtyard and offers for sale cakes (including our famous carrot cake), macaroons, chocolates made in-house, jams, locally produced cheeses, bath products, Karoo lavender soaps, shampoos, creams and sprays, and more.
In summer there is an ice-cream cart at the Deli that serves delicious in-house ice-creams of many flavours.

Asara Vineyards
Asara is situated in superb wine-making country. As the old saying goes, “wine-making starts in the vineyard”, and at Asara the combination of a rich deep soil derived from decomposed granite, rolling hills, strong sunshine and cooling sea breezes makes an ideal environment for the cultivation of high quality grapes.
There are 104 hectares under vine on the estate, 75% planted with Red Grape Varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Shiraz, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Gamay (Noir) and Petit Verdot. White grape varieties we are currently growing are Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay.
Treatment Room
Guests can book a range of relaxing massages, beauty and spa treatments in the comfort and privacy of our treatment room.
Booking is at reception, and preferably 24 hours in advance.
Special Occasions
Asara is a wonderful venue for celebrations of all kinds – whether a 21st, 40th or 50th birthday, an anniversary, a baby shower, an end of year party or any other special occasion.
We have the venues to suit parties of guests from 2 people to 200, or up to 500 people with a marquee, and can accommodate dining preferences from buffet to plated dinner, to fine dining or a spit braai.
We offer some extraordinary options for your event, including a magical lamp-lit dinner in the vineyards, and a unique cellar dinner in our chandelier-lit, oak barrel wine cellar.
mise en place
Book A Table
mise en place, our destination restaurant, opened in October 2016, and is fast becoming a must on the ‘where to dine?’ list in the Stellenbosch area.
mise en place features sophisticated dining and elegant service. We host a maximum of 40 guests per evening, and do not seat tables larger than eight. On fine summer evenings guests can choose to dine on the terrace, which offers a spectacular setting and memorable ambience.
The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday evenings from 6pm onwards. Reservations are highly recommended.

Asara Wine Tasting

Making magnificent wines is at the heart of what Asara is all about, and we welcome visitors to our wine-tasting centre to sample some of our established favourites as well as our exciting new wines.
At the centre, which overlooks our chandelier-lit barrel maturation cellar, an Asara wine ambassador will guide you through the tasting process, and discuss our wines, their characteristics and qualities, and how they are made.
Informative cellar tours are offered by appointment from Monday to Friday at 11h00 or 15h00.
There is always a selection of the estate’s wines available for purchasing at the tasting centre.
For hotel guests who have booked directly with Asara the tasting is complimentary. Day visitors pay R30 for their choice of three wines, or R50 for their choice of five. It’s not necessary to book a tasting, but it is advisable if it’s for a large group.
